Standish Mellon Asset Management
John Clavin, a former executive vice president at Storage Networks, has joined the firm as director of sales and marketing. The position will be merged with fellow Mellon subsidiaries Mellon Bond Associates and Certus Asset Advisors.

NYLIM Retirement has hired four new regional sales directors in efforts to boost sales through advisors. The new hires, which include Amy Glynn, Kurt Milhelich, Sean Kelley, and Duane Watson, will cover the Northeast, Midwest, West, and Central regions respectively.

Fidelity Investments
William Carey has been tapped as the new head of retirement business at Fidelity Investments. Carey, who assumes the role from Joseph LoRusso, who is now president of institutional services, was previously executive vice president of institutional retirement services’ emerging corporate market group.
Old Mutual
Old Mutual U.S. Life has named a new president for two of its subsidiaries. Bruce Parker has been selected as the new president of Fidelity & Guaranty Life and American Life & Annuity. Parker replaces Harry Stout, who is now heading up another Old Mutual subsidiary, LifeStar Financial Network.
Burridge Group
The Burridge Group, which is owned by Affiliated Managers Group, has hired John Erard as executive vice president and director of sales for the portfolio services group. He will be responsible for developing and training sales teams for PSG and expanding distribution.

Robert Brinker, who was most recently vice president of sales and relationship management at Mellon Capital Management, has moved to Mellon Equity Associates and is now senior vice president responsible for sales and marketing. [Fund Fire, April 29]
Jefferson Pilot Financial
The firm has hired Carol Rando as vice president of marketing and distribution operations. In the position, she will be responsible for the financial aspects of sales and marketing at Jefferson Pilot. Rando was most recently operating chief of life distribution at Travelers Life & Annuity.

Third Avenue Management LLC
Third Avenue Management has appointed Benjamin Belfer as managing director. Belfer, who was previously director, global client portfolio manager and COO of the Japan equity group at Credit Suisse Asset Management, will be responsible for the firm’s privately managed portfolios and alternative investment vehicles.
